The five year Actuarial Research Centre (ARC) funded programme聽聽has now drawn to a conclusion. The research results and highlights are described in a聽programme summary paper, and in this short聽.
The programme exceeded expectations, delivering outputs beyond its primary aims and yielding rich insights. A substantial body of work was produced including聽聽published in leading international journals, and a new Longevity Index for England known as the聽聽that provides a benchmarking tool for Actuaries, and a tool for policymakers outside the profession to better understand health and mortality inequalities.
This ground-breaking research was led by Professor Andrew Cairns of Heriot-Watt University and co-sponsored by the Society of Actuaries (SoA) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA). The research has been a truly global effort, collaborating with sponsors and co-authors from around the world on 32 articles so far.
The team have delivered over 120 presentations of various types including聽, drawing over 4,500 views on YouTube. Members have used the programme material to register CPD over 1600 times to date.
