Risk Management Board – member

Application closing date: 19 July

The IFoA is seeking to appoint members or suitably experienced non-members to join the Risk Management Board.

We welcome applications from actuaries across different professions in the financial services sector, including consultants and advisors. Relevant experience of risk management, curiosity and willingness to contribute to the actuarial profession, as well as a collaborative approach are considered key for the role.

Background

The Risk Management Board acts as a transversal source of expertise within the IFoA and the actuarial profession on matters relating to enterprise and wider risk management practices. The board promotes, supports, and champions the interests of members working in risk management within traditional fields (such as pensions, life and general insurance), as well as members using risk management techniques in finance and investment, banking and AI.

The board supports the IFoA’s Council in the delivery of its corporate strategy, works with all IFoA practice areas on risk-related matters, as well as thought leaders and international specialists. The board also works closely with the IFoA’s Regulatory Board on risk horizon scanning initiatives.

Volunteers will ideally have a good industry profile and an excellent network of contacts. They will be keen to build on the strong foundations already created and have a passion to help shape and drive forward the sustainability practice area for the future.

Time commitment

The time commitment is one day per month. Attendance would be required at quarterly meetings of 2.5 hours per year, with some potential work on specific assignments in line with member interests and aspirations. Meetings are held online so that member location is not a barrier.
