September 2025 Exam Experience Survey findings

29 April 2026

After every exam session we ask candidates to share their experience of preparing for, and sitting our exams, in our Exam Experience Survey. The survey results provide crucial monitoring data and timely guidance on areas to consider evolving for an improved exam experience.

1,829 鈥 or 18% 鈥 of you engaged with our September 2025 Exam Experience Survey, with a 77% survey completion rate, the highest for a September session in recent years.

We would like to thank everyone who took part. Every response helps us to understand what is working and what you need from us to feel more supported in your qualification journey.

We used your September session feedback to create an action plan and have implemented several exam experience improvements for the April 2026 exam session.

Key findings

Satisfaction with the overall exam experience was 6.19/10, up from 5.33/10 from the April 2025 session.

The key theme noted across results was positive recognition of changes introduced for September 2025 vs April 2025, countered by a desire for more choice at the point of booking, and greater consistency of exam experience across delivery methods.

While most of you (78.94%) found booking exams easy, reporting increased satisfaction (from 3.13 to 4.23 out of 5 across all channels) with the booking process, many of you were disappointed that you were unable to select your exam location when booking.

You told us that the main exam platform felt easier to use, with scores for uploading and previewing papers showing strong improvement (from 3.48 to 4.19 out of 5 and 3.43 to 4.23 out of 5). However, 鈥渢echnical reliability鈥 was the lowest scoring area in survey.

Those of you who sat in exam centres reported higher satisfaction and better invigilator support, compared to April 2025. However, some candidates highlighted venue equipment quality and comfort as areas for improvement.

Those of you who sat under remote invigilation reported increased confidence in using the online exam platform and that you found the on-boarding experience much smoother. You did indicate however that 鈥渢echnical reliability鈥, clearer instructions and better real time support were key areas for improvement in future.
